Where IS Everybody??

Does anyone remember this ad? This is how I’ve felt all freakin’ week. Discombobulated…off-kilter…out of whack. No matter how you describe it, it’s that surreal feeling you get when you can’t help but wonder, “Is it just me?”

Blogville has been a ghost town this week. Whether it’s due to spring fever or hay fever, people have evidently decided there’s places they’d rather be than online. Personally, I don’t have a choice…if I’m not online, it means I’m not working.

It’s okay, people…I know you all lead busy lives. You’re coming back, though…right? Eventually? I mean…you wouldn’t just leave me here…would you??

For anyone who can still hear me, I thought I’d share an epiphany I had the other day. Are you listening? Yeah, you…all the way in the back. Can you hear me? IS THIS THING ON?

“HELLO?”

Oops…sorry about that….I guess it was on. As I was saying, my Internet Explorer started getting sluggish the beginning of winter. After Bill (Gates) promised me he’d get right on it, I gave it 2 months...then I switched to Firefox. THAT lasted till a week ago before all the freezing and crashing and messages of, “Oops! Well, this is embarrassing…” started to annoy the crap out of me. Now, I’ve switched over to Google Chrome and it’s GREAT! Of course, I can’t figure out how to print a page…or find my bookmarked items…but other than that, it’s GREAT! Blogger and Chrome seem to be compatible and friendly…without making me feel like a third wheel. My posts load into Blogger seamlessly and my 127 open-tabbed windows are opening quickly and efficiently. All in all, it’s freakin’ GREAT! (Gee...I hope I haven't jinxed it.)

Okay…well…I don’t know if anyone’s even reading this….and if I’m talking to myself, well…that’s just pathetic.

So, I’m gonna go.

Have a great weekend, all!

Haha. I've wondered the same thing lately. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one asking myself where everyone wandered off to. I've been busier then usual the past few days myself. Major changes going on but I hope to settle soon.

JP said...

Ahem... I've blogged just about every day this week... which is like a record for me!

kathryn said...

Gavin: Hey, Sweets! I hope those "major changes" are good ones...that's the best kind. Yeah, I checked around a bit and everyone's light on comments, etc. Maybe the weather?

JP: Well, mister...(ahem)...don't shoot the messenger. *I* didn't make it quiet....it just IS. And you're right...that IS a record for you!

Kelly@MentalGarbage said...

It has definitely been a ghost town lately...... I know I haven't gotten to read or blog as much as normal lately, but I've been out in the field which means (sob) no computer to goof off on!!

Gigi said...

Talking to yourself is NOT pathetic. At least that's what I tell myself. . .

It has been rather quiet - and not just here either.

kathryn said...

KellyGrrl: Oh, man...don't they know you've got important people to keep up with? Some employers are so damned inconsiderate, aren't they?

Gigi: I know. I did check around and noticed everyone was quiet this week. It's just that kind of a week, I guess. It didn't really seem any different, yet it felt different. Does that make sense?

I've been here, but I'm on new meds and I am having difficulty stringing thoughts together ... that and the christmas tree lights that word has been lighting leave me more confused, a tad frustrated and then, well, yeah, I guess in all honesty nothing is really new.

except that I have watched a full season of house in 2 days.

I haven't done a bit of work all week, but I make sure to read about life in kathrynville ... can I come visit?

Unknown said...

I will admit, I am one of the ones who has been absent this week. Busy, busy, busy. With stuff other than blogging ... which is what I'd really rather have been doing. But I checked 2 things of my never-ending "to do" list so hopefully things will be back to normal.

It is nice to know I've been missed. :) Or maybe it wasn't me you were missing? No matter - even though it really does :) - I'm back and trying to catch up.

Ha! Of course you're not alone. I'm still here! Sometimes... That is when i'm not listening to songs in biology class :D. But other than that I got your back blog-bud. Oh and I think everybody watched that add again and decided to go to Rio. Maybe that's why you can't find anybody... I dunno, I'm just sayin'

:)
xoxo

diane rene: Aw. I'm sorry you're dealing with "The-Christmas-that-won't-go-away"...I'm gonna ask Bill to get right on that color scheme for Word corrections. As for that visit? You're welcome in Kathrynville anytime! We NEVER lock the doors here!

Kimberly: Yes, sweetie...I knew you'd gone missing. Busy is good! I'm just not used to this much quiet all at once... It's a little disconcerting...

Nice blog Kathryn!

kathryn said...

Fierce: HA! I hadn't thought of that. You mean, I might be sending everyone away??

kathryn said...

RobinCarrow: Why thank you! Both for the compliment and the instructions...Blogville is such a friendly place, isn't it? I keep forgetting about the keyboard shortcuts...I have shortcut amnesia.

Oddyoddyo13 said...

“Oops! Well, this is embarrassing…”

And I thought I was alone with that....Don't worry Kathryn, we wouldn't dare leave you! (We know how crazy you get sometimes...just kidding.)

kathryn said...

Oddyoddyo13: Nah...you're never alone...when you're with me, sweetie. And YEAH...you have to help keep me from going over the edge!

Christopher said...

I'm back! But if everyone else is gone I might have to reconsider.

sage said...

I've actually blogged more this week than normal--but I no longer try to do 3-4 posts a week, 2-3 is more my speed

kathryn said...

Christopher: Hey! Good! No, wait....don't GO. Yikes...it's like a revolving door in this place!

sage: I think 3 posts is about average for most...or maybe it's just more realistic. It's still been really quiet this week...

Tia said...

ummmm. sorry. :) can I blame the kids and their darn scout stuff or 2nd grade plays? or how about my upcoming finals and graduation in a couple weeks? or perhaps its just spring fever?

:)

maybe i am just a really, really lazy person and should hide in the corner for awhile (in shame).

Lauren said...

You mean... talking to yourself ISN'T normal? Hmmm... I'm going to have to talk to Andrea about this... If it makes you feel any better -Lauren emphatically waving her arms- I'm still here!

Carol said...

I'm back darlin and as always, loving your humor.I can't find my bookmarks in google chrome either!

Here I am! The video reminded me of the opening scenes to "28 Days Later" when the guy left the hospital to find the streets of the city empty (like that would ever happen in NYC).

Spot said...

I've been in and out. But I always comment your blog! And mine has been a ghost town the last two days but that's because I need a new post. This post was too cute though. Especially the girl peeking around her tower.

Talking to yourself is not bad, it's the answering back that gets you...

Yup, things are slow in blogville lately. At least you know it's not you. It's everyone.

I may make the permanent switch to Chrome. I am fed up with Firefox not starting, starting slowly, insisting on trying to re-create my old tabs when I don't want it to, freezing, crashing, etc.

Yes. I am going to do it. TODAY!

I just switched to Google Chrome lastnight on my Laptop. My Laptop was so slow it was so annoying. I thought it was the laptop...nope it was Internet Explorer.

Still here, Kathryn =) Haven't been in writing mode because my emotional state seems to be, for once in my life, in stable condition. Still reading every one's blogs. Cause I'm nosey and need to know what everyone else is up to, LOL. With the weather being so great and my hubby working a 2nd shift and me left to take care of my boys...Well, you have boys so you know how it is trying to gain that coveted "quiet time" we all dream about. I may be sporadic. But rest assured, I am still here =)

Alicia said...

Wow, so you missed me? I haven't been online since Sunday of last week. Cause I'm old! Old and fragile! Old and fragile and weak! *sigh* I never thought I would type these words but, I have a touch of Sciatica :-(
I apparently hurt myself cleaning my closet last Sunday and I've had to be flat on my back all week long. I didn't even make it to work. On the bright side...I had great meds which is what is allowing me to sit here visiting all my favorite people. Thank goodness for happy pills :-)

Lynn said...

Nope. you're not alone. I've been slacking in the comments latetly. Everywhere. Work. Dad. I'm actually typing this in the airport on the way to Canada. So I get a chance to come over here and see you! YAY!

Heather said...

Well, I'm here for now. It has been a crazy week and yes spring cleaning and yard work have really eaten my time on the internet. I'm lucky to have the time or the energy to post something every couple of days.

I'm glad Chrome is working out for you.

Dreamfarm Girl said...

sorry Kathryn...you're right! it's been hard to come inside this weekend when it's so pretty outside! But I have not deserted you!! Never!

Jen said...

I've noticed that no one is around as well. I'm still here, my ass has become one with my chair unfortunately. I can't leave for the same reason as you and it has been lonely. Let's have cocktails!

When Pigs Fly said...

I have been feeling the same way. Maybe it's just because I only post once or twice a week. Or, I'm just not that interesting. Can the blog life cycle be at its end? Let's hope not. Otherwise, I will be spending far too much time on Facebook.

Bobby Allan said...

That video is perfect! Yes, it's been a little slow. I think people have spring fever. I like to think that's the reason and not that they've found a new flavor of the month.

kathryn said...

Tia: Oh, honey! I didn't mean to make you feel bad! Besides, you're busy helping sis with the move. You are excused. You've got more than enough on your plate!

Lauren: YAY! I'll tell you...it had better be okay to talk to oneself, or I'm in some serious trouble.

Carol: You know where I found 'em? When I click on creating a new tab? It's a beautiful thing...they're all floating there.

kathryn said...

Alan W. Davidson: I don't think I saw that movie. (Of course, I never see things till they're on freakin' cable) Maybe that's where the film guys got the idea in the first place. That tv ad is from a long time ago...

Spot: Ha! "It's the answering back that gets to you"....so true! I'll have to remember that the next time I hear something/one answer. I'll tell them to talk to YOU.

kathryn said...

JD at I Do Things: Oh, I'm GLAD! I really, really like it...it's the fastest of the 3, I think. And I'll bet it NEVER gets slow over at YOUR place, sweetie! Too many ppl laughing...

Christiejolu: I KNOW! It's great, right? The only thing to remember is if you're trying to cut and paste anything into something online and it doesn't come out formatted correctly, you may still need internet explorer. I found that out the hard way today...

kathryn said...

Wendy Blum: Aw, honey...I totally understand. It sounds like your plate is extra-full these days. And yes, of course I understand about da boy-thang..."quiet time"? What's that??

Alicia: Oh, sweetie! I don't know if I'm more upset that you have sciatica, or that you used the phrase "I have a touch of..."!! I'm so sorry you've messed up your back! And you've GOT to change that story to having hurt yourself...deep sea fishing, maybe?
Thank goodness for happy pills is right! Feel better!

kathryn said...

Lynn: Wow! You're a weary traveler, huh? Sounds like you've been busy, busy, busy. I hope you soon can get some rest, rest, rest! Don't work too hard, sweetie!

Heather: Crazy week, eh? I'm heading over to your place now to see what's happened in the last few days. Hope you're doing okay, sweets...

Dreamfarm Girl: Oh, good. 'Cause you'd never hear the end of it, ya know. 'Tis the whine-heard-round-the-world...

kathryn said...

Jen: I'm IN! Now...raise your glass....CHEERS! (*CLINK!*) Ahhhh...that tastes GOOD. (Cyber-drinking....yummy!)

When Pigs Fly: Oh, don't even THINK about it, honey. You've got WAY too much talent for me to not want to read your every word...it's just a slow time! Everybody says so...

Chrissy: I have to believe it's across the board. It sure seems like everyone's been MIA a bit lately. I love that video...I always think of it when it gets too quiet.

Bernadine said...

Hi Kathryn

The weather??!! Yip. I struggle to get out of bed these days. So if you miss some of my comments... IT'S WINTER!!! and it sucks. And it is getting colder by the day.

Oh... I'm also using Google Chrome at home. Wonderful program. It doesn't want to load at work though.. don't know what's wrong.. oh well.

You should enjoy your Wednesday. :)

kathryn said...

Bernadine: Oh, honey. I feel your pain. We're still struggling to get over the frost in the mornings. Don't you love Google Chrome? It's so much faster! I really do like it!
