A Glance Back, A Deep Breath & A Smile

As records were broken for high temperatures here in the northeast, New York languished under clear blue skies and low to near-zero humidity, resulting in a beautiful weekend with great hair for all.

Over here in my neck of the woods, the air is fragrant with the overwhelming scent of magnolia. This is the view from my living room window:

There is no mistaking the time of year, based on the above photo.

Remember my artfully composed shot of the confused-magnolia with the barn in the background from November?

Then winter arrived and covered the flowers-to-be in a cocoon of snow:

Then the rains of March arrived and with it a glimpse of what was to come:

Fast forward to today:

The only thing missing from this summer-like weekend, (besides the sounds of splashing as children cannon-balled into their pools) were the familiar sounds of crickets in the evening…evidently, it’s simply too early for them.

This evening after a light dinner (in keeping with the feel of a lazy summer day), I sat on the front stoop and took in the sight of the bright-green spring landscape…and reveled in the incredible aroma of the blossoms of that beautiful tree.

From there it was a hop, skip and a jump to remembering that I’ve got to call someone to cut the grass tomorrow…and that I’ve got notes to type for that article due on Hot Party Spots for Tweens.

Happy Monday, all….here’s to the weekend!
