I must admit, I’d had no clue what the lyrics were to this song until a few minutes ago. I can’t decide if I’d be happier having not known. Sometimes, I believe that ignorance truly is bliss.

What did we do before Google? I’ll tell you what we did: We sang the wrong lyrics….that’s what we did. And, it seems that once you’ve decided what the words should be, it can be extremely difficult to re-learn the correct ones.

Case in point:

"Blinded by the light
Wrapped up like a douche
And with a runner in the night"
( Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night)

Connor sang this version by The Pointer Sisters:
"We are family
I’ve got all my sister’s mon-ey."
(I’ve got all my sisters with me)

I was singing “Little Blue Scoop” forever before my boyfriend-du-jour told me it was “Little Deuce Coupe”. What did I know from cars?? I remember he couldn't stop laughing...

“Let’s ride with the family down the street
Through the coulda seea fed joofee”

And let's not forget the classic "Hold me closer Tony Danza"
(Hold me closer Tiny Dancer) I personally never made this glaring error, but I remember it as a bit in the sitcom "Friends". (There was also the bit where the Joey character says that a point is "moo...like the cow", instead of moot. Ah, good times...)

And finally…my favorite…courtesy of a DJ whose name I’ve forgotten on some radio station I’ve also forgotten (although, it may have been PLJ). Every time I hear this song, I remember this story:

The song is “Every Breath You Take” by Sting. The DJ’s friend is belting out the song along with the radio…and he’s singing “I’m a pool hall ace….with every breath you take”
(How my poor heart aches with every breath you take)

I’m sure his way made perfect sense to him.
