Holy Crap, Batman!

Uh-oh.

Did you ever find yourself feeling a bitty-bit annoyed at some people…after you take the time and effort to comment over at their place and they can’t even be bothered to drop you a quick little response?

Yeah…me neither. Only, I don’t know exactly how…and I don’t know exactly why…but it just occurred to me today to check out my G-mail account. You’ll never guess what I found.

Okay, so maybe you do know. I found 276 un-opened messages:

I opened two of them and realized that somehow, these were a lot of messages that I didn’t know I’d received!

Crap, dammit, crap! Sorry JennyMac. Sorry Gigi. Sorry Kelly and Kim and Christiejolu and Carrie and JP and Alicia and Heather

And that’s just on the first 25 or so. Crap. How? Why?? I don’t get it.

It seems that a "Kathrynville" G-mail account is the recipient of all these "lost" emails.

Yes, I'd reserved the email “Kathrynville” through G-mail. I couldn’t resist. I’d fantasized about transferring ‘Inside…Out’ over to a ‘Kathrynville’ blog one day…had even reserved the website address before anyone else could pull the rug out from under me. But that’s as far as I got…instead using the unpublished website as a testing ground for stuff where I don’t want people watching me. I know you understand. (Minds out of the gutter, people. This means you, Mark.)

But, I haven’t logged into the Kathrynville ID since…like, March! HOW did all these responses wind up HERE? And even more important: What do I do with them now?? I’ve got un-opened responses going back to March 8th!! Here I thought that I was being ignored…and the truth was that I was ignoring them.

So now, I’m trying to do damage control. Of equal importance, I have to figure out how this happened so it doesn’t keep happening over and over again. Or, I suppose I could regularly remind myself to check my G-mail account. Yeah, there’s that.

In the meantime, please remember that although some of us may be a tad demented, I we have only the best of intentions….and sometimes silence is not a snub…but merely a sign of incompetence.

Or the sign of a faulty email system….take your pick.

It's a 'Download Irrecoverable Escarpment'. Say that and no one will argue.

At work when it is rarely discovered that my numbers don't balance I simply say, "It is due to a Unrecorded Liability Reversal." They look at me and then slowly nod their head and wander off trying to figure out what I said.

Lauren said...

That's quite a few messages... uh... good luck with that. Maybe you could forward your messages to an account you check more frequently?

kathryn said...

Jerry: Oh, I absolutely love this. So, it is a rarely discovered imbalance at work that brought you this great tidbit of knowledge? I shall dutifully hide behind (ahem. I mean, explain with an air of authority) that this crap happens. Then, I'll dazzle 'em with your fancy words.

Lauren: Um. Aren't you gonna help me? I was thinking I could forward half of 'em to you! Gee, I guess if I'm going in there to forward them, I might just as well read them. (Insert dramatic sigh here)

I will not be having my mind out of the gutter thank you very much! I like to think of my gutter-mindedness as a gift rather than a curse...LOL thanks (i think) for the shout out. (or bust out as it may be) I'm not feeling too snubbed by the way, and I suspect neither are any of your other adoring fans as we all know how busy you sometimes are with things that aren't blogging. In short we think you're cool wether you respond or not. E-mail me sometimes though so that I know you still care and also so I don't have to stalk you too much. Your neighbors are getting suspicious I think! Have a great day!

You've pissed off so many of us--just delete them and start over!

Haa Haaaa..

and I was just going to profusely apologize for not having been around lately-- but "How would you know?" LOL.

Seriously Kathryn...."How would... OK OK, I'll stop now."

I don't know why I'm bothering..she won't read it.....Oh, I'm sorry--I didn't realize I was still signed in.

LOVE YA TONS!!!!!

BTW- I know how much you LOVE, :-), LOL's and BRB's, my G-mail account has really been messing up- and so has Blogger.
ALWAYS: Blame it on Your ISP!!!!!!

Haha! I was wondering what happened to Kathryn? Okay, not just you! I opened my gmail and said out loud "where is everybody?"

I think you might have lost me. The link is wrong.

I don't know if you noticed yet or someone else has told you but on your Blogger profile page the email link looks like it is connected to the kathrynville account, but the email on your actual blog is the other one. Hope this helps!

I kinda have the same problem with my mail account...but thankfully, the letters are usually from facebook or twitter or just spam. Basically, I'm just not old enough to et important letters. I so love being a kid ;)

Dear Kathryn, I am glad that you have finally unearthed my 147 emails to you. I accept your humble apology and anxiously await responses to each and every one of them. Your demented (er, adoring) fan, Alan

PS, I was please to see that I was not slotted into the 'gutter people' category like Mark...

Sorry, I can't help but giggle. Isn't that always the way - we blame others for something they didn't do only to find out it was something we didn't do. Life conspires to keep us humble.

Will you be reading them all? ;-)

Ha!
I've done that before! (and of course, felt so overwhelmed by the sheer volume that I deleted them all...)

Kathyrnville.
Sounds like a nice place in upstate New York? :-)

Gigi said...

Sounds like you've got two email addresses that have their lines crossed somehow. Once you fix that future problem solved. In the meanwhile - close your eyes & hit delete all, if no one's complained yet then they are unlikely to start now. Except for me, of course. I'll complain long and loud! ;-)

Well, I, for one, will never read your blog again. I refuse to be ignored.

HA! Just kidding!

Glad to hear you are okay and it was just a glitch. But I will expect you to go back and comment on each and every one of my blog posts for at least that last 2 weeks. :)

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Alicia said...

I think as punishment you must write: "I will check my gmail on a regular basis and never ignore Alicia and the others ever again" 250 times!

Hahaha, not really, but I hope now you feel loved again, cause we all do love you and even if you never responded we would continue to come visit you. You're the only one I know in the world that has access to Cloudy...lol.

Don't worry, Ms K. My computer eats my homework on a regular basis too - it doesn't make me a bad person.

Glad you discovered your email reliquary. lol

I wish I had the excuse of languishing in your neglected Gmail account, but truthfully, I just haven't been that active in the blogosphere lately. We're all only human!

omg you are good.... I knew but this is the iciing on the cake....

Mark Price: WHY is it that every time I even think that expression, YOUR name pops into my head? Co-incidence?? I. Think. Not. Well, I will make a more concerted effort to stay in touch, my man. At least I know where you find you: You're that indistinguishable lump out there in the gutter, right?

John McElveen: HA! HA! You are a RIOT, my friend! I feel awful for not thinking to check...but in all fairness, those 274 emails never should have been there in the first place. I feel like I've been 'netblindsided...and was carrying just a tad of resentment towards those I thought were blowing me off. (Gutter, John...it's a legitimate expression...at least, here in NY!)And HEY. I can tolerate those sickeningly sweet icons from friends and you've endearingly crossed the line with your sweet comments, so now you're REQUIRED to use ONE on EVERY comment! HA.

Vince: YEAH. I mean, why am I making it MY FAULT? I didn't ask them to link my comments on other ppl's blogs to an un-used email account! I didn't do anything wrong!

kathryn said...

Heather: I've fixed the link, sweetie. I've got your blog on my feed on my google homepage and that's the address that it copied and pasted. Let me know if I've gotten it wrong again. I'm still sorry it seemed like I was ignoring you...you know I'd never deliberately do that!

Kristen: What? Huh? I knew the email on my blog page (little girl holding big envelope) is correct. Now I've got to log out and see what the blogger page looks like from the outside. Thanks for the heads-up, sweetie!

Adele: Well, who doesn't enjoy being a kid?! (You lucky dog, you!) Your whole life is ahead of you...(sigh) I do believe that sometimes having too much of something (ie: email accounts) is simply having too freakin' much. Period.

I'll try to remember that... on second thought, I may use that excuse :) Have a nice weekend.

Oh no!!! I hate when I miss stuff like that!! It looks pretty overwhelming!

Hmmm - now your Google friend connect seems to be off. I thought I was a follower already - but it says you have none? Oh well, I just signed up (again). (Since this is another Google problem, I think we can say the blame must lie squarely with them and you are completely innocent!)

Unknown said...

Wait - now the google friend connect thing is working again - WTF? Just ignore me!!

Anonymous said...

Hey it is cool...I tried to leave a comment last night but it wouldn't let me for some reason...I never know if anyone comes back and checks...I had another blogger tell me not to bother no one comes back to check for a response...So I stopped...Now I find that advice was wrong...So I will start replying on the blog again...

kathryn said...

Alan W. Davidson: Dear Alan W. Davidson, (See? I'm using your whole name, just like they do with celebrities, AKA Michael J. Fox. Aren't you impressed?) I am deeply sorry for having offended. I hereby request an extension to (no less than) 45 days but not to exceed 75 days, pursuant to the disclaimer #AWD!2#8 filed in Canadian court on 9.26.09 by yours truly. (Remember? You were wearing a blue shirt and drinking a Margarita, if I recall.) And yes...unfortunately for Mark, I had to develop a class specifically for him. (Rolls eyes fondly)

Boonie S: Do you really think so? 'Cause I've been saying I need a mental vaca for weeks now and no-one's taking me seriously. Maybe they will now.

Bonnie: "Life conspires to keep us humble"...I adore this line! And you know what? I will probably wind up reading them. If they took the time to respond to my comment, then it's the least I can do. Besides...what if someone asked me a question? I don't want to be rude.

Oh Kathryn, I am hoping you don't mind that I don't respond to the comments you are so great about leaving on my blog, or that anyone leaves on my blog, because the system for doing so is a big pain in the rear! Why can't Blogspot have a way to respond to bloggers without jumping through so many hoops? (unless I just haven't figured it out yet??) Anyway, I just hope that my visiting your blog regularly and leaving really long rambling messages (like this one) somehow makes up for my rudeness.
