SantaClauTroPhobia

1) Clean the house from top to bottom.
2) Stop at store. Pick up just one more Christmas present. Then I’m absolutely, positively 100% probably done. I think.
3) Grocery shop. Get fixings for lasagna. Pick up Hershey’s kisses for peanut butter cookies. (Thanks Erin@TheLocalsLoveIt!) Keep an eye out for Columbia.
4) Finish work emails.
5) Dig out and start on Christmas cards.
6) Finish other work emails.
7) Finish family emails:
8) Come home. Unpack car. Realize I’ve forgotten to get gas. Go back out and fill up the car.
9) Decide that the whole, entire house doesn’t have to be clean. Just the super-public parts…no-one’s going to be hanging in my office…right?
10) Bag the Christmas cards….decide to send New Year’s cards instead.

And now…for the entertainment portion of our show:

(Takes deep breath)

DECK the halls…while the weather outside is frightful-He sees you when you’re sleeping and all I want for Kevin for Christmas is for him to not lose his two front teeeeeeth-I’ll have a blue Christmas if it doesn’t warm up in this office but Frosty the Snowman knew the sun was hot that daaaaaay!Grandma got run over by a reindeer so from now on her troubles will be out of siiiiiiight….I don’t know if there’ll be snow but I believe we’ve had more than enough, so cover up your head ‘cause Santa Claus comes tonighhht-What a bright time (‘cause we’re past Winter Solstice), it’s the right time to rock the night away…’cause it’s the most wonderful time of the yearrrrrrrrrrr!!!”

(Whistle….whistle….applause….applause. Encore!! Encore!!!) Okay, people…settle down.

Here’s wishing everyone a holiday filled with the joy that comes from being with those you love, satisfaction in knowing we’ve survived yet another chaotic holiday season without:

  • stroking out, or
  • driving off a cliff

…and wrapped in bliss…just because I like the word…and who seriously couldn’t use more bliss? Happy Merry Day, everyone!

xo

I *always* think I'm done and then I relax... until I go to put everything together on Christmas Eve (whadyaMEAN it's tomorrow???) and realize I'm dreadfully under-done.

Oh, the joys that are Christmas Eve. lol

Have a very Merry Happy Kathryn! Wishing all of the best to you and yours!

Hmm...that reminds me....I really should get some work done around here. XD I just haven't really been in the mood. It doesn't even seem like Christmas this year for some reason. D: But I hope you have a great one. (:

Kathryn you make me laugh. Chaotic holidays are cool huh? I am pretty sure Def Jam records will want to record that song, but for good measure you should maybe pop-a-cap in 'Ol Saint Nick.

"Columbia": heh.

I love your jolly yet somewhat frenetic Christmas medley. I expect to hear that blaring over supermarket speakers by October of next year.

LASAGNA?

Mmmm. Lasagna.

I wish you and your family much, MUCH bliss, my lovely friend. And I expect my New Year's card on TIME this year.

XOXOXOXO

I'm going to have to go shopping on Christmas Eve. That should be fun.

It's 70 degrees here. It's not supposed to be 70 degrees for Christmas.

Hi Kathryn,
I just picked up my last gift today too. I think we are ahead of many... Tomorrow will be crazy for those brave enough to go shopping. Me... I'm just going to stay home and make cookies. Have a Merry Christmas.

Happy Merry Day to you too! I'm calling it WIIYC. Yours is better.

Should I send you paper bags? I sense hyperventilation. Particularly after that delightful song mix. You should copyright that.

Breathe! And when you're done with that, drink! And after that, sleep. Only way to get through it I think. Except... I have to go without booze... dang.

Cherry Mristmas... Oh, bother... you know what I mean. And a happy happy [hour] New Year, Kathryn.

I, for one, am off to:

1) grocery shop
2) cook small feast
3) clean my apartment
4) do laundry
5) all before 6 tonight
6) oh God, oh God, and it's already 9 in the morning
7) why am I on the internet?
8) and why am I still typing??
9) crawl into my wardrobe, curl up in the fetal position, and rock back and forth, whimpering softly (or at least hope I end up in Narnia)

xo : )

...And the same to you! I have thoroughly enjoyed the reads your blog. And I too am COMPLETELY exhausted after all of the mad running around. Trying to remember Mr. Miagi's most prized advice: Don't forget to breathe.

"...just the super-public parts."

I think every woman goes into a mania over feeling that the entire house needs to be cleaned at holiday time. Doesn't matter that no one is going to know if you dusted the tops of the windowsills or not, it must be done! *evil cackle* And then as we run out of time we start rationalizing and paring down to where we're satisfied as long as the toilet doesn't look *too* dirty. We're crazy creatures, aren't we? Don't go too insane, and have a great Christmas!

Damn, I love those cookies.

(they go well with a nice glass of scotch)

Merry Christmas!

Happy Christmas to you and yours. Love your Christmas Carol but maybe you should just stick to blog writing and not song writing? Ah,what do I know? Maybe it'll be a one-hit-wonder LOL

In our, will we get the new sofa in time, will we get our wood burning stove for Christmas world that we exist in. Mrs B has ended up cleaning the house three times in the last two days. I keep telling her to wait till we know what is happening but she insists on putting the rooms back together only for mayhem to commence as various workman manage to wreck parts of the house while pretending to improve our house. Before you accuse me of being sexist and leaving Mrs B to do all the clearing up I have been out hunter gathering and fighting various other shoppers for the last sprout in a 100 mile radius of Bishops Stortford – I should get a prize for this I hate sprouts with a passion……

Lou: Thanks, doll! Hope your holiday is a happy and safe one!

SMOOG! Thanks, sweetie! Boy, this week's been a serious blur...where'd the time go??

Gavin: You're such a GUY. That's why the brunt of the work is left to the GIRLS at the holidays. What is that about??

Gigi: Oh! So, you've managed to NOT go off on those we love?? I fell short on this one, sweetie!!

kathryn said...

Mark Price: Hey, blogbud!! Yeah...I'll work on that recording contract asap...perhaps you wanna sing backup??

Maureen@IslandRoar: Thanks, sweetie! Same to you and yours...happy day!

WannabeVirginiaW (AKA Louise): HA! More than once, I felt like I was driving over that cliff!

JD@I Do Things: Thank you, my dear friend. I've saved you some lasagna. Now, I'm thinking of you as the pain ricochets off my lower back. If I sit here for one more minute, I fear I'll spontaneously combust! (OW) Now, I'm beginning to understand your pain (just a little)!

ValleyWriter: Ha! Love that! "Merry Blissmas"....you are WITTY, my friend!

Oddyoddyo13: Same to you, sweetie! Let's keep everyone safe and happy!

Clandestiny: Right back at-cha, doll! Here's hoping the coming year is an awesome one for all of us!

kathryn said...

Jen: Okay. I can appreciate the downside of shopping on Christmas Eve...but I'm having a bitty-bit of trouble with the 70-degrees being somehow....wrong. I SHALL TAKE it off your hands, sweetie....any time!

Isabella: I baked cookies too! And a glazed ham...and a lasagna for Christmas Day. I do believe I'm baked/cooked out. Hope your holiday was a great one, sweetie!

Lauren: "WIIYC"? Hmmm. "Why is it Yuletide Chaos? No?? I'm thinking not. I'm glad you've enjoyed my musical interlude...look for a CD available with a fill up of gas at your local Mobil station...

~:C:~ HA! And yet...you kept typing...but didn't bother to correct your typo, which just goes to show you've got your priorities down...well, somewhat. I've already stopped by your place and it looked like it all went off without a hitch. Kudos, doll! Happy Day!

Gropius: Yeah...breathing is WAY under-rated. I am (somewhat) embarrassed to say that I'm glad it's over. Da stress! Da deadlines!
Da damn Christmas commercials!!

Jason: Thanks for the lovely comment. I always make it a habit to reciprocate one comment for a visit and comment at another's place...I feel it's the least one can do.

kathryn said...

Angelina: Same to you, sweetie! I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!

Dailyseeking: Same you you and your fam, sweetie! Joy in '10!

Kimberly: I'll bet there are more GUYS in the stores on Christmas Eve than gals! How much you wanna bet??
Happy Day, sweetie!!

kathryn said...

Gingerella: What? Dust the tops of the windowsills?? Now, there's something I NEVER remember to do! Yeah, I always seem to set the bar WAY too high...I guess we all do, right? Hope your holidays are fabulous...just like YOU.

Erin@TheLocalsLoveIt: Ohhhhh....scotch. Would bourbon work too? My fam INHALED those cookies!

Wendy Blum: Oh, I'm imagining my pseudo-song won't make it to the top-10 anytime soon! That's okay...I haven't the mental stamina for songwriting anyway...right?

BlackLOG: Well, then you have managed the ultimate Christmas sacrifice: Shopping for something you hate. It's a Christmas miracle!

Fierce: YAY! I've completed someone's "to do" list....oh, wait. That was MINE. Well, I'll take it!!

Collette: Thanks, sweetie! I hope you and your family have a safe and stress-free holiday, too!

book*addict: HEY!! Is this a Christmas wish all the way from Nicaragua?? Hope you're having a fabulous time, sweetie! I'm heading over to your place now!

kathryn said...

Heather: Yeah...I like the chair, too! And it's a recliner...how great is that? And now I HAVE to slow down, 'cause my back is still killing me. (You'll be happy to know I've got ICE on it now...no more heat)Thanks, sweetie!

nashashibi: Thanks! Happy holidays to you and yours!

snoble24: Thank you, sweetie! I'm wishing you back the same thing! Much joy, much happiness and may all your dreams come true!
