Tick Tock

For a few scant hours, the northeast was bathed in sunshine….it was often interrupted with intermittent clouds…and yet, there it was. For some reason, Mother Nature is being stubbornly frugal in doling out the rays these days. It’s like she’s stuck in some endless loop:

April showers…
….bring
May showers….

During our brief respite from the rain, I managed to photograph some of the foliage here in the valley:

This is the only one not on my property…although it is just down the road. This photo really does not do it justice….but if I wait for it to be sunny, I may never get the shot. This home is part of a horse farm…. “country” enough for ya?

I believe these are called “Bleeding Heart”, although I’d name them “Broken Heart With Little Teeny Innards Pouring Out”….as I think it’s more anatomically accurate.

Smell that? It’s lilac. Who doesn’t love lilacs?

Ye ‘ole barn….in spring. As seen from a low-level, semi-squatting position. With my butt wedged up against the front of the house. Too much information?

Are you wondering about the title of this post? Anyone??

I’m patiently waiting on a new landscaper to tame the wild beast that has become our property. After scooting down for this shot, I picked my way through the tall grass to the front door and scrambled up the stairs to the office to download the photos onto my laptop. As I waited for the computer to update, I glanced down and saw this

crawling across my leg.
Say it with me now: “EWWWWWWWWWWW.”

After showering and washing my hair, I’m still itchy and I jump every time I feel my hair on my shoulder.

See? This is why I don’t like going outside.

What is that, a tick? Yuck!

Anyway, I just love those pics.... just LOVE them!! I love that that beautiful tree is on a horse farm, and I love the Bleeding Hearts and the Lilacs. Great pics for a rainy day.

Yes, ladies....it was a tick. A gross, disgusting, almost-as-bad-as-a-mouse tick. This is the downside to all those sweet deer...
